One God and SaviorIsaiah 45:21

The just God and the Savior are not competing subjects. The LORD alone occupies both identities.

Jesus calls the confession of one LORD the first commandment. He does not revise Israel’s God into several divine persons.

One Spirit, Lord, and GodEphesians 4:4-6

One Spirit, one Lord, and one God are the grammar of Christian unity. These are not three Gods but the one God known and active in salvation.

James assumes the confession ‘God is one’ as basic truth. Saving faith must live and obey, but it never abandons this confession.

Likely objections

One God could still mean three divine persons.

The prophets do more than count one divine essence. They deny any God ‘with,’ ‘beside,’ ‘before,’ or ‘after’ the LORD.

The Bible’s explicit doctrine is one LORD and no other God. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost must be understood inside that confession, not used to replace it.
