Scripture-first response
“Matthew 28:19 requires a three-title baptismal formula.”
Jesus used singular ‘name.’ Acts consistently shows the apostles baptizing in Jesus’ name across every expansion of the mission.
What the objection is claiming
The titles are treated as three spoken names, and apostolic practice is separated from Jesus’ command.
Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Open full referenceJesus commands disciples to baptize into the singular name of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
How the passages answer it
The issue is not Matthew versus Acts. Luke’s commission centers remission in Jesus’ name, and the apostolic narratives record how the command was enacted. The singular name belongs to the one God revealed as Father, in the Son, and as the Holy Ghost.
